TRANSFER GOSSIP

Tottenham are hoping to sign Valencia's Vicente in the January transfer window with the left-sided midfielder reported to be keen to leave the Spanish club. (Spanish radio station Cadena Ser)

Newcastle United are willing to splash out £5m for Leeds forward Jermaine Beckford. (The Sun)

West Brom are looking to sign Coventry forward Leon Best, 23, on loan ahead of a permanent deal in January.

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson could be in trouble with the Football Association for expressing his displeasure over referee Martin Atkinson after Sunday's 1-0 defeat at Chelsea.

Disputing the free-kick that led to John Terry's headed goal and the failure to see Didier Drogba's foul on Wes Brown, Ferguson said: "You lose faith in the refereeing sometimes." (Various)

Hull chairman Adam Pearson could be set to give manager Phil Brown until the end of the season to prove himself.

With many predicting Brown's sacking on the back of Hull's poor run, the recently appointed chief said: "If you stay strong and dig in, then I think it is a decent solution."
