BREAKING GOSSIP

1057 BST: Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso, who is wanted by Real Madrid, has urged for his future to be sorted out one way or the other as the long-running transfer saga continues to drag on.

"I'm a professional and I must wait for an agreement to be reached, but I hope it is resolved soon, for better or for worse." (Spanish newspaper AS)

1054 BST: Real Madrid midfielder Rafael van der Vaart is keen on a move back to Hamburg after being told he has no future at the Bernabeu. (Bild newspaper)

1027 BST: Striker Marouane Chamakh has lashed out at Bordeaux for standing in the way of a "dream" move to Arsenal. (French daily newspaper L'Equipe)

1023 BST: Manchester United have handed a trial to Swedish 15-year-old star Linus Sjoberg who is currently on the books of Vasteras.

Chelsea will go on a £100m spending spree this week and hope to sign AC Milan midfielder Andrea Pirlo, Bayern Munich winger Franck Ribery and Atletico Madrid's Sergio Aguero.
