Just realised you can drive before you get your licence! You just need your driver number in case there are any queries.

Yeah you dont need your actual licence while it's being process it's fine.

Useless for me as I don't have insurance.

I thought that was the case but the way the examiner was talking it sounded like I needed the licence first.

I've just sorted my insurance. I went with Aviva as they are the only company that mentioned to start the time you held a licence from when you got your provisional and I've had my provisional for years! It looked like the others wanted it from when you held a full licence. This brought the price down to £499.99, the others were around a grand!

I've also joined the RAC as my heap of crap is bound to break down on me. It's well worth £28 a year. The only downside is the £28 policy doesn't cover you if you break down within a quarter of a mile from home. You have to pay £80 odd for that. The AA currently have a better deal if you want home cover too.

Nice, enjoy cruising around in your pimp mobile.

If it breaks down at home, you'll just have to push it for quarter of a mile

Well it won't be for a little while, the earliest I could get an MOT is Monday. The bloody battery was also flat today so I've had to put it on charge. It's been starting straight away lately too, trust it to start playing up just when I need it.

Took it in for an MOT earlier and it was a total nightmare to drive, it kept going slow then suddenly speeding up due to the brakes binding from where it's been standing for so long. My dad did mention they might bind the other day, if he told me earlier I would have had a go at sorting them myself. Luckily I didn't have far to go and nobody was up my arse. Other than the brakes it needs a new exhaust and one of the lights looking at. I think I'm looking at a couple of hundred plus the MOT fee, so not too bad.

Still not got my Volvo back from the bloody garage. It's failed the MOT on emissions so the guy is checking out the sensors. I ended up getting pissed off and buying a Toyota Celica, bit of a mad choice for a first car! Unfortunately it won't be ready until Thursday, they are putting new brake pads on and valeting it for me.

That's not the actual one. The one I've got has a few minor chips on the front but they aren't that noticeable and I should be able to sort them. There's also a slight repair job on the driver's side wing that wasn't done very well, I can sort that too but I'm not sure I can be arsed. To be honest I'm not sure if I'll keep it for long as it isn't very practical, there's zero room in the back and it might as well not have any back seats. It was an impulse buy and I hardly checked it out! I'm just hoping there isn't anything too wrong with it. At least I bought it from a garage so they should make sure it's roadworthy and in reasonable nick.

Here's the one I bought:

How much did you pay?!

I'm so out of touch with cars, haven't owned 1 for years! All I know is my Escort RS2000 used to cost a bomb on frigging repairs.

I paid £1700 which might be a little bit over the odds considering the nicks and the repair job on the wing. I only noticed it after paying the deposit! Apparently it was originally £2295 but I think that was just to make it look like they reduced it. The actual price was £1795 but he wouldn't take any less than £1700 with new brake pads thrown in. It's pretty old - 1999 - but has 80,000 miles on the clock which is below average for the age. I don't think I could have got anything better looking for the price. If I sort the bodywork and make it look immaculate I might be able to get close to £2000 for it, otherwise I'll probably only get around £1500 being a private sale. I haven't even got it yet and I'm already talking about selling it!

The one in the first picture I posted is the same year and is up for £2395, but it is in "Stunning Condition". No mileage is given.
