BREAKING GOSSIP

Stoke boss Tony Pulis has dismissed reports that he is planning to exchange Republic of Ireland midfielder Liam Lawrence with Middlesbrough's Gary O'Neil. "I haven't spoken to Gordon Strachan (Middlesbrough boss) about this, so I don't know where it has come from," Pulis told the Stoke Sentinel.

Real Madrid are close to sealing a £30m move for Chelsea left-back Ashley Cole, 29, according to Real's World Cup-winning goalkeeper Iker Casillas, who said: "I am confident he can be a Real Madrid player next year".
